Lauri Tankler has worked as a journalist for the most part of his life and is now using his journalism background to help the Information System Agency of Estonia get a wider sense of how cyber security issues are perceived in society. Before joining the government agency he was a senior writer for the Estonian daily newspaper Eesti Päevaleht, writing political analysis, leading political debates, and reporting stories about the environment, education and national security. From 2013 to 2017, Mr. Tankler was the US correspondent for the Estonian Public Broadcasting TV and Radio news, reporting everyday issues from the United States for the highest rated TV newscast in Estonia, including covering the presidential election of 2016.

Mr. Tankler also has hands-on experience from the education system. From 2008 to 2011 he taught English and Media literacy to middle and high-school students in Tartu, Estonia.
