A lot of countries, represented by DMVs/Road Administrations/Governmental Agencies have addressed to the eID FORUM to learn more about the Digitalization of the Driver´s License, its advantages and disadvantages, and lessons learned, of the most common ID in the world, the driver license, learning more about the different efforts, initiatives and evolutions and examine the possibilities to be part of this innovative movement, on the on-going digitalization phases of a physical driver license.

The eID FORUM has invited key personnel, executives and program leads to introduce and express their thoughts on a special composed “Mind the Gap" session with the title “Will the most Common Identity in the World be the Digital Driving License?”, where all delegates will have the opportunity in a direct dialogue to address the thoughts, questions and be part of working groups in round tables.

This Mind the Gap will be a 1,5 hour session where Geoff will introduce and lead the session and have an active dialogue on his Vision and Mission on the Digitalization for Drivers Licenses in USA and around the World by sharing his experiences, but also sharing the running standardization process of the ISO 18013 Part 5 and the first implementation of a Digital Driver License, presented by Finland and the Finnish Transport Safety Agency (Trafi), where Finland is one of the world leaders in digitalization and the Finnish Transport Safety Agency aims to be in the forefront of this development.

Geoff will be accompanied by Evangelos - an active member in the running ISO 18013 Part 5 Working Groups - who will introduce the work accomplished in the ISO so far and also the next important steps on the ISO to be fulfilled upon its soon coming standardization.

Simo is also accompanying the team and will, as Head of Unit of all Drivers Licenses in Finland, share Finland´s Action Plan on the roll-out of the first Digital Driver License in Finland and related e-Services that will follow by a Digital Drivers License and on-line activities. Finland is currently building digital driver license services and the launch of several of them will take place by the end of 2018. Simo, will also explain in this Mind The Gap why the digitalization is important for Finland and its users, mention the benefits and present different use cases.
